
Ben Behlke
Wisconsin Land & Liberty Coalition Field Director
Ben Behlke is the Field Director for the Wisconsin Land & Liberty Coalition. Ben was born and raised in Galena, Illinois. However, after graduating from Galena High School, Ben attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, where he grew a strong connection to the State of Wisconsin. While at UW-Platteville, Ben earned a dual major in Sustainability and Renewable Energy Systems and Political Science. During this time, he served as Student Body President from 2019-2021, the City of Platteville Intern from 2019-2021, and Pennycress Biofuels Student Researcher from 2019-2022. In addition, he served as a volunteer firefighter for the City of Platteville in 2020. Additionally, Ben spearheaded the effort by students at UW-Platteville to get the university’s landmark 2.4 megawatts, a behind-the-meter solar array, which at the time was the largest state-owned solar array and the fifth the largest solar array at a university nationwide.
Ben previously worked as a solar installer and design intern for Eagle Point Solar out of Dubuque, Iowa, from 2020-2021. Before coming to the Land & Liberty Coalition, Ben served as a Government Affairs Intern for Renew Wisconsin over the summer of 2022. Through his experiences, Ben has developed an ability to communicate and understand renewable energy’s complexities effectively.
