Conservative Energy Network Launches American Powerhouse Ad Campaign Focused on Grid Modernization and Permitting Reform

Conservative leaders from 14 states to discuss importance of the issues on Capitol Hill this week

November 19, 2024 – WASHINGTON – The Conservative Energy Network (CEN) has launched a new advertising campaign to highlight the importance of grid modernization and permitting reform. The campaign, named “American Powerhouse”, will feature commercial advertisements on Newsmax as well as digital media. The video advertisement can be watched here. CEN is also participating in a D.C. fly-in event, in collaboration with Americans for a Clean Energy Grid (ACEG). CEN is bringing conservative leaders from fourteen states who will meet with members of Congress to stress the economic and national security importance of grid modernization and permitting reform. Meetings will be held November 18-20, 2024.

“America is a powerhouse that invents breakthrough technologies and builds for the future while creating American jobs,” said John Szoka, CEN CEO. “CEN is committed to supporting the development of a modernized power grid so our country is ready to meet the challenges of the 21st Century. This is a critical issue that should be immediately addressed. That is why we are drawing additional attention to it during the lame duck session of Congress. America cannot be truly energy dominant if we do not have secure, reliable and affordable access to energy.”

CEN believes an expansion of both American-made energy generation and transmission is needed to meet a rapidly growing demand for power. This surge in demand has been attributed to the growth of artificial intelligence in data centers, reshoring of manufacturing facilities and increased electrification. New transmission capacity, enabled by permitting reform, will allow for the expansion of greater American-made energy production and free America from dependence on foreign sources of energy.

Bipartisan policies like the Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024 are needed to cut regulatory red tape and enable a more efficient deployment of needed critical energy infrastructure. Economic analysis has shown that well-planned transmission projects can add up to $42 billion to the national GDP, boost direct local spending by nearly $39 billion and create more than 400,000 new jobs. Previous polling from CEN has found that more than 60% of voters believe a modern power grid would increase American jobs, reliability and national security. 73% of voters agree that a modern power grid is necessary to maintain life in the 21st Century. Furthermore, 62% of voters support cutting regulations and red tape that slow energy development. This includes 67% of Republicans and 62% of Independents.
