Conservative Energy Network Encouraged by Advancement of the Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024

The policy would empower America to build the energy generation and transmission capacity needed to ensure a secure, reliable, affordable, and clean power grid.

July 31, 2024 – LANSING, Mich. – The Conservative Energy Network (CEN) is encouraged by the advancement of the Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024, led by Senators John Barrasso (R-WY) and Joe Manchin (I-WV). The policy was passed earlier today by the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee with a strong bipartisan vote of 15-4.

“Today’s vote is further proof that there is bipartisan consensus that permitting reform is urgently needed so the United States can build the energy generation and transmission capacity required to meet a surging demand for energy,” said John Szoka, CEN CEO. “The Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024 would streamline permitting processes to better allow industry to build a secure, reliable, affordable, and clean power grid. CEN believes that a modernized power grid will unleash a new era of American energy leadership and economic prosperity. CEN looks forward to continuing to educate policymakers on the importance of this needed policy and hopes that leadership in both chambers will give this policy the attention it deserves.”

Previous polling from CEN has found that 62% of voters support cutting regulations and red tape that slow energy development. This includes 67% of Republicans and 62% of Independents.
