CEN Urges House Action on H.R.1 to Confront National Energy Emergency and Secure U.S. Dominance

July 2, 2025 – WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Conservative Energy Network (CEN) appreciates the Senate’s decision to keep measures allowing pragmatic energy solutions in H.R.1 and urges the House to follow suit by delivering a final bill that empowers American ingenuity to address the national energy emergency, as declared by President Trump.

The following statement may be attributed to CEN CEO John Szoka:

“The U.S. faces a historic surge in electricity demand from AI, data centers, and reshored manufacturing. If we fail to rapidly build all types of energy infrastructure, we risk ceding economic and technological leadership to China.

America cannot afford half-measures. We must unleash every resource now to secure true energy dominance and win the global race. Thanks to Senate leadership, H.R.1 includes crucial measures that deliver certainty and flexibility for energy investors such as securing 100% credit value through 2027, protecting existing projects from retroactive penalties, lifting restrictions on solar leasing, and eliminating the excise tax that would have driven up costs for all consumers.

Conservatives have an obligation to not pick winners or losers in generation sources but instead lead with an all-of-the-above strategy rooted in free markets, innovation, and energy security. We urge the House to maintain these vital Senate provisions so America can unleash its full energy potential, create jobs, and secure true energy dominance.”
