While the detailed policy proposals in each of our states may vary at times, we will pursue a policy agenda consistent with the following principles:

Energy security is national security. The United States must lead the expansion of clean energy resources.
PRINCIPLE: ACHIEVE AMERICAN ENERGY INDEPENDENCE
True energy independence is achieved through diverse, abundant, and reliable energy. When the United States maximizes the use of all available forms of energy, our economy is strengthened through new economic investment and job creation.
PRINCIPLE: EMBRACE TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION
To stay ahead of our global competitors, we must embrace and champion American-led technology and innovation.
GOAL: SAVE AMERICANS MONEY
Access to energy is a necessity. To avoid electric bills causing an economic burden on families and small businesses, energy must be affordable for all Americans.
PRINCIPLE: CHAMPION FREE MARKET COMPETITION
When the government refrains from picking technology-specific winners and losers, consumers win as the most affordable technologies rise to the top.
PRINCIPLE: STRENGTHEN CONSUMER CHOICE
The current electric market design restricts free market consumer choice and unnecessarily increases electric bills.
GOAL: BUILD AMERICAN
Energy innovation can create millions of jobs, increase revenue for local communities without raising taxes, and grow the American economy.
PRINCIPLE: CREATE AMERICAN ENERGY JOBS
A resurgence in new energy generation and American manufacturing creates jobs at home and ensures we do not have to rely on foreign-controlled energy supply chains.
PRINCIPLE: DEFEND PROPERTY RIGHTS
American landowners should economically benefit from the installation of critical energy infrastructure (i.e., generation siting, transmission lines, etc.) on their land.
GOAL: SECURE THE POWER GRID
America’s aging power grid is a critical infrastructure asset in need of investment. A modern, reliable, and secure power grid will unleash a new era of American energy leadership and economic prosperity.
PRINCIPLE: CUT GOVERNMENT OVERREGULATION
Permitting processes must be streamlined to allow private industry to invest in our economy, build infrastructure, and create jobs.
PRINCIPLE: PROTECT CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE
We must defend the vulnerabilities of our power grid from surging energy demand, extreme weather events, and attacks by bad actors.
We believe that the energy industry is undergoing an unprecedented evolution—one that is shifting away from the traditional model of using fossil fuel generation managed by centralized monopoly utilities to a system that prioritizes the use of advanced emerging technologies, environmental sustainability, market competition, and customer choice to fuel the economy.
As this transition occurs, we work every day to encourage the development of a system that leverages the powerful forces of free markets over heavy-handed government mandates. We believe this market-based approach will lead to the most effective and efficient outcomes for consumers, the economy, and — as a byproduct — lower emissions.
Vision Statement
CEN will lead conservatives wherever the conversation for a cleaner energy future is taking place and focus on building and maintaining strong partnerships with policy experts, public officials, industry leaders, and key stakeholders to re-prioritize energy policy within the conservative movement. Market-based energy policies at the local, state, and federal levels will spur our nation’s transition to a clean energy future.
